When the Holidays Don’t Take Over: A New Way to End the Year

When the Holidays Don’t Take Over: A New Way to End the Year
“A well-lived December can shift an entire year.” - Mia Moran

This episode is really close to my heart — because I know what it feels like to reach December and realize I’ve been sprinting for months, trying to create magic for everyone else while running on fumes.

And I also know how it feels to finish December feeling full — aligned, grounded, and even excited about what’s next.

In this conversation, I share how I went from hanging on to being intentional during the holidays — from the early Waldorf and Simplicity Parenting years, to the season I literally had to sit still with a broken wrist (and ended up dreaming my next big chapter), to the years where what my family and I needed most kept changing.

    DOABLE CHANGES

At the end of every episode, we share three doable changes, so you can take what you’ve heard and put it into action. Change comes from action.

Here are three Doable changes that we chose from this episode.

    • Ask yourself the question: What would it look like to make this December really matter in my life? Don’t overthink it — just let the first answer land while you’re in the shower, driving, or sipping your matcha. Contemplate the answer. Ask how you can make that happen.
    • Look back to look forward. Think about a past December that felt good — what worked? What filled you up? Then think of one that left you drained. What would you do differently this time?
    • Protect your pause. Choose one weekend, afternoon, or evening between now and Thanksgiving that you’ll leave open — no errands, no obligations. Just space to breathe, dream, or do nothing at all. That pause is the first step in shaping how this December feels.
    From Overwhelm to Ease

I talk about how pausing now — before the rush begins — completely changes how I experience December and even how I start the next year.

And yes, I’m inviting you into Make December Matter, my four-part guided experience happening November 14–23, where you’ll create a plan that feels true to your season of life. You’ll get a comprehensive workbook, space to plan, replays, and gentle practices to carry you through the month.
