Magnificent Menopause with Amanda Hinman

Magnificent Menopause with Amanda Hinman
“Our bodies are truly magnificent and really resilient.” - Amanda Hinman

Dreading or hating menopause? Feeling it’s all downhill from here? It doesn’t have to be.  I’m talking with Amanda Hinman, a functional medical health consultant, who helps women optimize health by balancing hormones naturally. You can write a different story for your health later in life.

One of the problems we face is our doctors don’t always talk about the hormonal changes we are experiencing. And even if they do, they are often compartmentalized—even though they interact within our bodies. We need more information. That means more testing and somebody who understands how to read those tests to get at the root cause.

We talk about:

  • The 6 major hormones that change in menopause, not just the ones we are used to hearing about
  • How these hormones interact and influence each other
  • Becoming an empowered health leader for yourself
  • Surprising results, like how eating healthy may not be working you if you look at what your body is actually taking in
  • The importance the experience of eating almost as much as what you eat
  • Learning to appreciate your body being a key step to health changes

    DOABLE CHANGES

At the end of every episode, we share three doable changes, so you can take what you’ve heard and put it into action. Change comes from action.

Doable changes are things that you can add into your life, one at a time to make micro shifts and really create a ripple effect that will create a big change over time. Choose one that really piques your interest and roll with it.

    Doable Changes from this conversation:

APPRECIATE YOUR BODY. Appreciating your body is a great starting point to make decisions and choices about your health. Think about how amazing it is that your body does what it does. Instead of focusing on what you don’t like, notice that your body and its systems are amazing.

UPGRADE YOUR EATING. Instead of eating at your desk or rushing through a meal you just stressed about  getting on the table, upgrade that experience. Take a break to eat your lunch. Take your breakfast out into the sun. If you can’t destress during making dinner, take a few slow breaths to destress before you start eating.

START TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH. Instead of being passive, make your doable step taking a small action that puts you in more control of your health. You could try the Hormone Assessment Amanda shared, learn more about functional medicine, research providers, or make a proactive appointment.
