Freeing Emotions with Lauren Fonvielle
Looking for relief from stress, anxiety, chronic pain, or trauma. Have you tried EFT, or tapping? If you’re curious about what this is and how it works, you’ll want to listen to my conversation with Lauren Fonvielle, an Integrative Energy Practitioner who specializes in EFT.
EFT is short for Emotional Freedom Technique, also referred to as tapping. With this technique, you gently tapping on certain points of the body and acknowledge how you are feeling. Lauren compares it to acupuncture. In acupuncture, they place needles at the end points of the meridians where energy moves through our body. In EFT, we apply light pressure on similar points while talking out loud about how we are feeling. It may sound weird if you’ve never tried it. Even Lauren was skeptical at first, but there are studies to back it up.
Tapping can take you out of fight or flight or freeze mode, which means you can make better choices and decisions. You can use tapping proactively too. If this tool isn’t part of your toolbox, take a listen and see if it’s something you want to add.
We talk about:
- How tapping reduces the amount of cortisol in your body and rewires your brain
- Using tapping to deal with stress, anxiety, physical pain, cravings, and limiting beliefs
- Making tapping part of your daily self-care by adding it to something you already do
- Where to tap and what to say
- Tapping on the negative emotions so we can feel and release them
- Exploring instead of ignoring thoughts that come up
Doable Changes
TRY TAPPING. Use the tapping sequence in the podcast or Lauren’s masterclass to try tapping. Tap the different parts of your body, talking through the emotions as Lauren demonstrates. You may notice a difference right away, or you may need to go through the process a few times.
MAKE TAPPING PART OF DAILY SELF-CARE. Lauren suggests adding tapping to something else you already do to make it a daily habit. Decide what you will tie it too—in the shower, after brushing teeth, before leaving the car to come in after picking up kids … where in your day will you give yourself this gift?
NOTICE HOW YOU FEEL. Part of this technique is noticing, even rating, how you feel at the beginning and end. Whether it is stress, anxiety, or pain, notice how you feel. During tapping you will acknowledge this feeling. When you are done tapping, reassess. Has it changed?
